François-Timoléon de Choisy was an abbé, writer and member of the French Academy. De Choisy is remembered mainly for his Mémoires (1727), of a markedly anecdotal nature, which offer detailed portraits of his contemporaries, although there are doubts as to their historical rigor.
The Mémoires were the subject of numerous editions and were published in 1868 by M. de Lescure. Some remarkable letters of De Choisy are also found in the Bussy-Rabutin correspondence. It is claimed that De Choisy himself destroyed certain writings with indiscreet revelations, although he left a considerable amount of unpublished manuscripts.
