Heinrich Karl Riedel was a German architect, painter, Prussian public works official and university professor. Son of the architect of the court of Bayreuth Johann Gottlieb Riedel. He learned his trade with his father and then trained as an architect in Berlin. He became a regional architect in Neumark, where he worked, among other things, as a dyke inspector on the Warthebruch dyke construction site. In 1791 he was transferred as provincial director of public works to the Lithuanian War and Dominion Chamber in Gumbinnen. In 1794 he was appointed to the Higher Department of Public Works in Berlin, where in 1795 he was appointed senior civil engineer.
