Published in Valencia by Ediciones Españolas in 1937, Homenaje al poeta García Lorca contra su muerte. A selection of his works constitutes one of the most significant editorial testimonies that emerged after the assassination of Federico García Lorca. Published barely a year after his death, the volume not only seeks to preserve the memory of the poet from Granada, but also to vindicate his figure as a symbol of Spanish culture and creative freedom.
The work brings together a careful selection of Lorca's poems and songs, some accompanied by their corresponding musical scores, as well as tribute texts written by leading figures of Hispanic literature of the time. Contributors include Rafael Alberti, Dámaso Alonso, Antonio Machado, Vicente Aleixandre, Pablo Neruda, Miguel Hernández and José Moreno Villa, among others, making the book a valuable document of the immediate reception of the poet's work and figure.
The selection of Lorca's texts was made by Emilio Prados, who contributed to offer a representative sample of the poet's poetic production. The volume is also enriched with two photographs of Lorca, drawings made by the poet himself and various musical notations integrated into the text, elements that provide a remarkable documentary and artistic interest.
