DESCRIPTION
RAFAEL ALBERTI (El Puerto de Santa María, Cádiz, 1902 - 1999).
"Poem and illustrations".
Poem Retornos de los días colegiales, section of the collection of poems Retornos de lo vivo lejano and the poem "Botticelli" typewritten, belonging to his book A la pintura.
Dedicated to Estela and Patricio Canto by Rafael Alberti. Signed by the author.
Measurements: 28,5 x 21 cm.
Autograph testimony signed by the author and dedicated to Estela and Patricio Canto, which gives it a remarkable documentary and bibliographic interest within the set of privately circulated materials related to Alberti's work. Estela and Patricio Canto were two relevant figures, although for a long time little recognized, of the intellectual avant-garde and the Argentine literary bohemia of the twentieth century. Brothers and outstanding translators, they were part of the milieu of the Sur magazine, one of the most influential cultural nuclei of literary modernity in Spanish America. The document gathers poetry and materials linked to the author's creation, including the following poem:
"Por jazmines caídos recientes y corolas
and corollas of don diegos of night defeated by the day,
I escape this inaugural morning of October
to the distant years of my school".
This type of writing is part of a fundamental line of Alberti's work, especially in texts such as Retornos de lo vivo lejano, where the past is reinterpreted from the distance of exile and memory acquires an autonomous poetic dimension. Likewise, the author's interest in the relationship between word and image is related to his work in works such as A la pintura, where he experiments with the correspondence between verbal and visual language. Also mentioned in this context is the poem "Botticelli", written on a typewriter and linked to this aesthetic exploration, which reinforces his constant dialogue with the pictorial tradition.
