This exceptional copy acquires a singular value for preserving an emotional autograph dedication by Pablo Neruda, dated August 1944, which brings an intimate and deeply human dimension to the bibliographic piece. The poet's handwritten inscription reads:
"Chiquitita mía. I dwell on earth but all my hope is to dwell in your heart, definitely. Neruda. August 44."
These words reveal a personal and affective facet of the author, transforming the book into much more than a literary object: it becomes a direct testimony of the emotional life of one of the most important writers of the 20th century. Neruda's dedications are especially appreciated by collectors and researchers, as they allow us to get closer to his personal circle and to understand aspects of his biography that are rarely reflected in his published works.
From the material point of view, the copy is bound in paperback with flaps, preserving its original cover with titles. The spine has been reinforced by gluing, a common intervention in period books to ensure its preservation. It is in very good general condition, a remarkable condition considering its age and the often fragile nature of the original editions of the mid-twentieth century. Its dimensions of 19 x 13 cm correspond to the characteristic format of many of Nerud's early publications.
The presence of such an expressive and personal handwritten dedication significantly increases the historical, literary and bibliographical interest of the copy. Beyond its importance as a printed work, this volume is a unique piece, where the poet's public voice is intertwined with a private declaration of affection, giving it an extraordinary rarity and documentary value within the universe of Nerudian collecting.
