FC Barcelona won the European Cup Winners Cup 4 times, more than any other team. The finals were won in 1979, 1982, 1989 and 1997. This competition, which pitted the national cup champions of each country against each other, was replaced by the UEFA Cup (now Europa League). FC Barcelona is the club with the most titles in the history of the competition. It won the Cup Winners' Cup four times: 1979: Beat Fortuna Düsseldorf in the final. 1982: Defeated Standard Liege in the final, played at Camp Nou. 1989: Beat Sampdoria in the final. 1997: Beat Paris Saint-Germain in the final. The competition was held until 1999, when it was replaced by UEFA.
