BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Valencian bargueño and arquimesa from the early XXth century.
Mahogany wood enriched with embossed silver plates.
Measurements: 53 x 83 x 28 cm. (bargueño); 85 x 101 x 37 cm. (table).
Mahogany wood chest, with the sample uncovered, which displays in each drawer embossed vermeil silver plates. Each of them depicts a Greco-Roman-inspired scene featuring putti or lovebirds: they frolic in the field, play with a plank that has been transformed into a swing, drink wine, dance and play instruments. All of them are dynamic, playful and playful compositions. The drawers are of different measurements, and are outlined by chiseled borders with synthesized vegetal fretwork. The handles are metallic, in the shape of teardrops. The prismatic body of the chest rises on flat turned legs.
The matching mahogany architrave is outlined on its rectangular top with similar foliate motifs on embossed silver. The turned legs, joined by wrought iron fasteners, alternate lentil-shaped turning with tapered sections.
