DESCRIPTION
Two Pilar table with seating consisting of 10 chairs and 2 armchairs. England, Regency period, ca. 1810 - 1820.
Mahogany table and walnut chairs.

This Two Pilar table is made of solid mahogany, with an elegant appearance and a warm reddish hue characteristic of this hardwood. The piece of furniture is conceived with an extensible system, composed of a central part supported on a sturdy trestle support, to which two independent lateral extensions are added. These extensions rest on molded leg structures that open on four feet topped with brass casters, which facilitates the movement and assembly of the table.
The tabletops are foldable, allowing the surface to be adapted to different needs, from a more intimate use to a large capacity table for banquets. This versatile design was prized in the Victorian period, when the dining room took on a central role in social and family life.
The combination of functionality and aesthetic refinement reflects the influence of mid-19th century English furniture: balanced proportions, solid structure and a design intended for comfort, without sacrificing the elegance of the period.
