BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Table lamp; MAURICE MODEL, France, c. 1930.
Opalescent glass plate mounted on nickel-plated bronze.
Measurements: 37, 5 x 26 x 3,5 cm (glass); 40 x 29,5 x 20 cm (set).
Art Deco style table lamp, characterized by its ornamental design with a glass plate with a figurative design depicting a bucolic scene.
The piece is reminiscent of works by designer Maurice Model, who worked for Cristalleries de Verdun. He is a relatively little known French artist, mainly because his factory was demolished during World War II, only nine years after its founding. Most of his work was produced for export exclusively to the United States and, surprisingly, also to Japan in the mid-1930s.
