DESCRIPTION
Philip IV period door; Spain, XVII century.
Carved wood and iron fittings.
Measurements: 258 x 126,5 x 7 cm; 213 x 115 cm.
Spanish door from the 17th century, corresponding to the period of Philip IV, executed in carved wood and provided with iron fittings. The piece articulates its presence through a design divided into three vertical registers that combine function and expressiveness.
The most distinctive element is the use of turned balusters, repeated in series on both the door leaves and the upper parapet. These finely modeled pieces show convex profiles and successive chokes that create an alternating play of light and shadow, underlining the workshop's skill in the mastery of the lathe and precision carving.
The frame and leaves are organized by means of smooth and molded lower panels, which balance the volumetric exuberance of the upper balusters.
