DESCRIPTION
Flowerpot; England, XIX century.
Walnut wood.
Measurements: 51 x 28 x 28 x 28 cm.
Raised on cabriole legs, the set conveys a sense of visual lightness that contrasts with the solidity of its upper volume, achieving a formal balance very characteristic of nineteenth-century British furniture.
The ornamental restraint, barely interrupted by a small front drawer with a brass handle, responds to a sober and functional language, designed to accompany lounges and galleries where exotic plants became symbols of status and cultivated taste.
Beyond its practical function, this piece refers to a time of special interest in botany and interior design, when furniture was adapted to new ways of living and displaying.
