DAUM. Nancy, ca. 1930
Table lamp.
Molded pressed glass and brass.
Signed.
Measurements: 49 x 38 x 38 cm.
Elegant table lamp made by Daum around 1930, a refined example of the Art Deco turn of the manufacture. Executed in molded pressed glass with geometric and astral decoration in relief, it combines pure cylindrical forms with a discreet brass support. The interior lighting enhances the satin-finished glass work, creating a soft, architectural lighting effect. Signed "Daum Nancy", it is a representative piece of the house's production in the period of maturity of French decorative design between the wars.
The Daum manufacture, founded in 1878 by Jean Daum and consolidated under the direction of his sons Auguste and Antonin, was distinguished by its ability to integrate technical innovation and aesthetic rigor. Each piece was the result of a collaborative process between craftsmen and artists, where blowing, modeling, engraving and enameling were executed with a precision craftsmanship of the highest quality.
