The wall mirror now up for auction stands out both for its generous dimensions and for having survived to the present day in good condition despite being nearly four centuries old. It features an elegant octagonal profile, defined by a carved and gilded wooden frame that combines successive moldings with ornamental motifs in relief. The central mirror is surrounded by a series of beveled glass panels arranged radially, a design element that amplifies reflections and lends depth and visual richness to the piece as a whole. Particularly striking is the condition of the antique glass panels, whose darkened areas, loss of mercury, and surface irregularities serve as a valuable testament to the passage of time and reinforce the piece’s historical character. The warm patina of the gilding, likewise preserved with the wear and tear typical of its age, helps maintain its aesthetic authenticity.
