Pair of table lamps. BACCARAT. France, mid-20th century.
Molded crystal, clear and satin-finished, with metal bases and fabric shades.
Signature visible on one of the bases.
Electrical wiring has been updated.
Good overall condition; one of the bases has two small chips. Slight signs of wear on the metal frames and lampshades.
Measurements: 50 cm high x 30 cm in diameter, each, including shades.

A pair of sculptural lamps whose stems take the form of stylized dolphins, with sinuous bodies covered in scales and heads emerging from molded circular bases. Throughout the 20th century, Baccarat produced various lighting designs based on this style, combining clear and satin-finished glass to accentuate the hallmarks of contrast between the surfaces and the relief of the modeling.

Founded in 1764, Baccarat became one of the most prestigious French crystal manufacturers, producing an extensive range of decorative objects and lighting fixtures. The manufacturer gained significant international recognition following the 1855 Paris World’s Fair and received commissions for the residences of Napoleon III, as well as from numerous European and Asian courts.
