DESCRIPTION
Lot of four reproductions of old Valencian coins; XX century.
Gold 18 k.
Measurements: 21 mm (larger diameter); 18 mm (smaller diameter).
Weight: 25, 72 g (total).
In the upper left part there is a coin of clear Islamic inspiration, probably an imitation of a dinar or dirham of the Andalusi period, with kufic inscriptions. This type of coins circulated widely in Al-Andalus between the 8th and 15th centuries. In the upper right part there is a piece with a human figure and a legend that alludes to James I of Aragon. In the lower left part we can clearly distinguish a reproduction of a "real de a ocho" or "duro", with the inscription "HISPAN" and the value "VIII", typical of the coins of the Hispanic monarchy in modern times. This type of coin was widely used internationally and was the basis of global trade from the sixteenth to the eighteenth centuries.
Finally, in the lower right part, there is a piece with a crowned bust and a Latin legend, probably inspired by medieval or modern coins of the Kingdom of Valencia or the Crown of Aragon.
