DESCRIPTION
Pair of candlesticks; France, third quarter of the nineteenth century.
Gilded and chiseled bronze.
Measurements: 30 x 13 x 13 cm (x2).
Pair of candlesticks made in bronze whose design is framed in the transition between the late baroque and rococo. The model is the usual throughout the Baroque, a model of European origin characterized by a foot and a bulky shaft. The ornamental motifs are reminiscent of examples of the decorative art of the period known as Napoleon III style, but reinterpreted to adapt more to the aesthetic taste of the 19th century.
These types of pieces reached great popularity during the 19th century, becoming an object of luxury and social significance, so that their quality and good taste distinguished the taste of their owner.
