BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Pair of neo-Renaissance candlesticks. France, Napoleon III period, third quarter of the nineteenth century.
In patinated bronze.
Measurements: 17 x 15,5 x 15,5 cm.
Pair of candlesticks in patinated bronze. They date from the last quarter of the nineteenth century but follow Renaissance models. Satyrs and fronds decorate the base, worked in relief, and the vegetal motifs extend around the different levels of the piece, covering the turned profile candlestick with dynamic and dense bas-reliefs. The Napoleon III period is characterized by eclecticism and sumptuous decoration, often importing antique models as in these pieces.
