This box of measuring instruments is an exceptional testimony of the scientific and technical instrumentation that flourished in the first half of the 19th century. The era, marked by the Industrial Revolution and the expansion of scientific and geographical knowledge, demanded precision tools for engineering, cartography, architecture and mathematics. Includes: precision compasses (bar or large radius compasses), dry-point compasses, drawing compasses with interchangeable accessories, drawing straightedges and slide rules. Handles are made of bone and bakelite. The choice of steel for the compass tips and fine mechanisms ensures durability and accuracy in drawing.
