BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
French perfume bottle. Napoleon III, late nineteenth century.
Bronze, glass and enamel.
Measurements: 13,5 x 7 x 7 cm.
This piece, which combines cut crystal, gilded bronze and enamels, is a clear example of the eclecticism and love for the sumptuous detail of the Napoleon III period. Exquisite perfume bottle, whose design reinterprets baroque and rococo, as is typical of the decoration of the Second French Empire. The body of the bottle is made of cut glass with geometric and faceted motifs. The bottle sits on a chiseled bronze mount decorated with mascarons, scrolls and acanthus. It also has turquoise blue enameled panels as background and Renaissance-inspired iconography in the drawing.
