Great humidor made in mahogany veneer by the English firm Benson & Edges. The upper third opens to reveal a cigar compartment in a tin-plated zinc drawer; the other section includes an opaline tobacco jar, suitable for cigars or pipes, an accessory compartment and a folding compartment for accessories. It also has a silver-plated brass plaque that reads: "fournisseur de la cour". The lock is original, with a double hook and key security system included.
Benson & Edges began manufacturing humidors in 1908, with a first patented model with felt. These pieces were made by the best cabinetmakers and tinners, and their high price meant that they were destined for a clientele among the English and American elite. Among its owners was the actor Edgar G. Robinson, a renowned cigar smoker.
