DESCRIPTION
Clock harness. France, third quarter of the nineteenth century.
Patinated bronze and marble rouge griotte.
Measurements: 24.5 × 23.5 × 15 cm each cup.
Pair of ornamental cups that are part of a table clock garnish, made of patinated bronze and rouge griotte marble.
Each piece has a classic structure in the form of a goblet on a turned marble foot, with an intense red veined color, supporting a metal chalice with a circular profile, decorated on the lower part with a band of gadroons. The side handles, of volute and openwork design, are finished with delicate vegetal and floral motifs, of clear neo-Renaissance inspiration. The shaft, made of cast and chiseled bronze, is decorated with stylized acanthus leaves, adding visual lightness to the whole.
