DESCRIPTION
Moroccan-style tiber, 20th century.
Polychrome ceramic with metal accents.
Measurements: 160 x 58 cm.
Converted into a lamp.
The piece features intricate geometric decoration that mimics the traditional Moroccan zellige or inlay technique. It combines tiles and motifs in shades of ivory, blue, red, and black to form rosettes, diamonds, and stars inspired by Islamic design. Alternating with the ceramic panels, the body and neck incorporate large openwork metal panels with latticework (arabesques). These openwork sections are designed to allow light from the interior lighting to pass through (visible via the cord with a switch at the base), creating a highly dramatic lighting effect.
