DESCRIPTION
Set of two scales; France and Germany; first half of the 20th century.
Metal and wood.
Exhibits wear consistent with age and use, and one of them has chipped enamel.
Measurements: 30 x 53 x 60 cm; 63 x 39 x 52 cm.
Set consisting of two commercial-grade precision scales, representative of the evolution of weighing instruments during the first half of the 20th century.
The first is a vertical, fan-type commercial scale, manufactured by Berkel in Europe, with a metal frame and a white enamel weighing pan. The second is a precision balance, consisting of a weighing system with separate weights, mounted on an elegant hardwood base with a lower drawer, presumably intended for storing the sets of weights and small accessories.
