The original book is accompanied by a linen cloth printed expressly according to Tàpies' design, in eight inks.
This book is dedicated by Tàpies to the Romanesque tapestry known as the Tapestry of the Creation, preserved in Girona Cathedral and dating from the 11th century, a unique and exceptional piece among the few known and preserved embroideries from the Romanesque period. It develops a theological theme, as some contemporary Spanish manuscripts explain.
The book opens with an introduction by the editors and an introductory text by the physicist Jorge Wagensberg. The central body of the book is an extensive sequence of photographs of the highest quality, reproducing the different details of the tapestry in spectacular close-ups, accompanied by quotations from Genesis. It also includes a careful study of the complex symbolism of the tapestry by the medievalist Joaquín Yarza, professor emeritus at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
