Modest de Casademunt studied at the Escuela de Lonja in Barcelona. When he was 17 he began working at the Foneria Artística Masriera y Campins. There he designed grilles, lights, showcases and elements applied to furniture. Shortly afterwards he began to work as an ex-libris draughtsman and illustrator. In 1911 he took part in the 6th International Art Exhibition in Barcelona and received an honourable mention for his mosaic project. In 1921 he began to produce decorative ceramics, in the Art Nouveau style and above all on religious themes. In 1929 he was awarded the Gold Medal at the Barcelona International Exhibition. Between 1929 and 1964 he had a ceramics shop in Barcelona. Towards the 1930s he abandoned the classical style and experimented with Art Deco. The Museum of Art of Sabadell has more than a hundred ceramic objects by Modesto de Casademunt, as well as the artist's personal collection and other material.
