One of the pioneers of the Catalan informalism, Amelia Riera was formed in the School of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi of Barcelona. Two years later, in 1965, he became known in Madrid with a personal exhibition held at the Ateneo of the city. He made the international leap in 1969, when he exhibited his work individually at the Il Giorgio gallery in Milan. Since then, and to date, Amelia Riera has held personal exhibitions throughout Spain, especially in Barcelona, as well as in Sweden, Warsaw, Tokyo and many other foreign cities. She has also taken part in important group exhibitions both in Spain and in other European and American countries, with special mention for her participation in the major exhibition "Informalisme Català", held at the Santa Monica Art Center in Barcelona in 1990, where she was the only female artist selected. Throughout her career she has been awarded the Barcelona Women's Salon Prize (1966) and the Medal and Diploma of Honor at the Ancona Graphic Art Competition (1968), among other prizes. Her works are currently on display at the MACBA, the Norrköping Museum in Sweden, the Zabaleta Museum in Jaén, etc.
