In the collection of the Abanca Foundation there is a similar work (INV. 1136) of which it is noted "This work belongs to a period in which he devoted himself intensely to graphic work, within a stage in which he used dark ranges and liked to reflect beings between minerals, vegetables and aquatic. At the end of the seventies his chromatic range will begin to lighten".
Muñoz was trained at the San Fernando Academy and, after an early contact with the Madrid realists, he evolved towards informalism after studying in Paris. His style, marked by a matteric and expressionist painting, is characterized by direct interventions on the support and a lyrical approach. Throughout his career he exhibited internationally and his work went from an experimental and colorist stage to a more sober and monochromatic one. Since the late sixties he adopted a more fantastic tone and, after 1981, his artistic language became flatter and lighter.
