DESCRIPTION
MARC CHAGALL (Belarus, 1887 - France, 1985).
"Arabian nights".
Lithograph on paper, copy 134/333.
Signature and dry stamp of Spadem Limited Editions.
Justified by hand.
Measurements: 36 x 26 cm; 53 x 43 cm (frame).
Work inspired by the narrative universe of The Thousand and One Nights, where Marc Chagall deploys his characteristic poetic and dreamlike language. The weightless treatment of the characters, the lunar atmosphere and the chromatic richness refer to the artist's personal imaginary, in which literature, memory and myth merge in a deeply lyrical vision.
Chagall is represented in the Guggenheim, MoMA and Metropolitan Museums in New York, the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, the Georges Pompidou Center in Paris, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, the Fukoka Art Museum in Japan, the Albertina in Vienna and the Thyssen-Bornemisza, among many other public and private institutions around the world.
