In this lithograph belonging to the famous Fregoli Folder, Tàpies articulates an image of intense symbolic ambiguity. The cup refers both to a ritual vessel and to a fragile body that guards a latent energy.

The work reflects Tàpies' interest in primary signs, everyday objects and the spiritual charge of matter. The formal economy -a barely suggested silhouette- coexists with a pictorial surface of organic appearance, reinforcing his conception of art as a space for inner reflection.

The condition of P.A. adds a special value to the edition, as it is a print run reserved for the artist and of special interest for collectors.

Co-founder of the Dau al Set group in 1948, Antoni Tàpies began his public projection at the end of the 1940s, exhibiting in Barcelona and Madrid. After a stay in Paris in 1950, his career quickly acquired an international dimension, with exhibitions in New York since 1953 and a continued presence in the main artistic centers of Europe, America and Asia. His work has been the subject of major international retrospectives and has received numerous prestigious awards. He is represented in the world's major museums and his legacy has a fundamental axis in the Fundació Antoni Tàpies in Barcelona.
