In this print, Garaicoa articulates one of the central axes of his artistic research: architecture as a political and social metaphor. The image combines projective drawing -plans, perspectives and handwritten annotations- with a photograph of a building in ruins, establishing a dialogue between modern utopia and its material failure. The contrast between the technical stroke and the documentary record evidences the tension between idea and reality, between planning and deterioration.
A prominent member of contemporary Cuban art since the 1990s, Garaicoa has developed a body of work centered on urbanism, memory and the unfulfilled promises of modernity. This piece, conceived in the context of La huella múltiple, synthesizes his critical poetics through a sober and conceptual language, where the built space becomes a field of reflection on history, power and precariousness.
