Luke Chueh is known for his work in pop surrealism, a style that mixes the tender with the disturbing; his works usually feature child-like characters, especially a white bear that acts as his alter ego, set in minimalist scenes but loaded with emotion and dark symbolism, addressing issues such as loneliness, anxiety, identity or personal pain, with a visual approach that combines black humor and social criticism, and in addition to painting he has also worked in illustration and the creation of collectible figures (art toys), establishing himself as a leading figure in alternative contemporary art.
