DESCRIPTION
RICHARD MOSZKA (Montreal, 1968-Mexico City, 2025).
"Dream map of Mexico City", 1998.
Silkscreen on paper. Edition 4/4.
Signed, titled and justified.
Measurements: 182,5 x 106 cm.
The work presents a conceptual representation of Mexico City in the form of an open hand, integrating urban cartography and symbolic elements associated with palmistry. A detailed map of streets and emblematic points is displayed on its surface, while the outline suggests a territory surrounded by mountains, reinforcing the geographic identity of the Mexican valley. The cross between map and palm of the hand turns the city into a legible body, where the lines of destiny are superimposed on the urban roads. This hybridization between cartography and esoteric reading proposes a subjective and dreamlike vision of urban space: the city not only as a physical territory, but also as an intimate experience, memory and vital projection.
Richard Moszka, born in Montreal and based in Mexico City since 1993, developed an artistic practice marked by thematic projects of strong personal involvement. Throughout his career he has addressed issues such as HIV and addictions, as well as recovery processes, from an autobiographical and reflective perspective.
