Sculpture-table with facsimile edition of Pablo Picasso's Suite 347.
Tokyo; Publishers 2000, The Jiji Press, 1977.
Six volumes. Facsimiles signed in plate.

Measurements: 15 x 57.3 x 42.2 cm (sculpture); 51.2 x 36.2 cm (facsimiles).
Japanese facsimile edition in six volumes of the 347 engravings that make up Picasso's Suite 347. Edited and produced by Publishers 2000 and published by The Jiji Press (Tokyo, 1977). It is presented in a sculpture in the form of a side table.
Suite 347 consists of the same number of etchings, produced by Pablo Picasso between March 16 and October 5, 1968. It was shown for the first time as a set at the Louise Leiris Gallery in Paris in December of the same year. No simple interpretation of its subject matter can be given, unlike the Vollard Suite where the themes of the minotaur and the sculptor with his model clearly predominate. As in Suite 156, Suite 347 contains all the imagery of the older Picasso. Thus, there are themes referring to his public, the great masters, the world of bullfighting and flamenco, Greco-Latin mythology and the Mediterranean landscape, and even such a Spanish theme as "La Celestina", a work to which the painter dedicates 66 engravings. Likewise, there are ample references to everyday life, to the artist's own childhood or to what Picasso could see on television, such as Roman movies, the Thousand and One Nights, etc. Likewise, this suite is full of references to other artists, such as Rembrandt, Raphael, Ingres, Manet, Monet, El Greco, etc.
