BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

NOT BANKSY (active since the 2000s).
"Who Killed Banksy?".
Silkscreen on cardboard. Copy 47/50.
Signed and justified.
Attached certificate of authenticity issued by L-13 Light Industrial Workshop.

In Who Killed Banksy?, Not Banksy constructs a scene of black humor around the symbolic death of the icon Banksy. The image presents a rat fallen over a red puddle, next to a masked character and the poster that gives the work its title, in a composition that parodies the codes of mystery, crime and the iconography of street art. The background, repeated with the inscription "Not Banksy Archive", reinforces the self-referential character of the piece and its constant play between archive, copy, conceptual falsification and criticism of the market.

Not Banksy is a graphic and satirical project linked to L-13 Light Industrial Workshop, a London space dedicated to publishing, graphics and counterculture. Initiated in 2007 by STOT21stCplanB, the project is articulated from the appropriation, parody and criticism of the art system.
