Not Banksy resorts to one of his most recognizable images, the chimpanzee with a poster, to pose an ironic critique on desire, credulity and the art market. The phrase "There's a sucker born every minute" introduces a biting commentary on the ease with which the public and collectors can be seduced by the icon, the signature or the promise of authenticity. The red heart-shaped balloon brings a seemingly sentimental note that contrasts with the cynical message of the poster.

Not Banksy is a graphic and satirical project linked to L-13 Light Industrial Workshop, a London-based space dedicated to publishing, graphics and counterculture. Initiated in 2007 by STOT21stCplanB, the project is articulated from the appropriation, parody and criticism of the art system.
