Lithograph created for the book *Maravillas con variaciones acrósticas en el jardín de Miró* (1975), which brings together texts by Rafael Alberti and images by Joan Miró. The publication reflects the close relationship between poetry and the visual arts that characterized much of the Catalan artist’s graphic work.
Internationally recognized since the major retrospective dedicated to him by the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York in 1941, Miró established himself as one of the leading figures in 20th-century art. Throughout his career, he received major awards, including the Grand Prize at the Venice Biennale, the Guggenheim Foundation Award, the Carnegie Prize for Painting, and the Gold Medals from the Government of Catalonia and the Fine Arts Academy. His work is currently housed at the Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona and in some of the world’s leading collections of contemporary art, including the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, the Reina Sofía National Art Center, the National Gallery of Art, the Musée National d’Art Moderne, and the Albright-Knox Art Gallery.
