In 1971, Salvador Dalí created one of his most renowned series of prints inspired by the Song of Songs, to which this work belongs. The title refers to the famous verse “Turn, turn, O Shulammite; turn, turn, that we may gaze upon you” (Song of Songs 6:13, or 7:1 according to some editions), a passage that the artist reinterpreted through his personal symbolic and surrealist universe.

A leading figure in Surrealism, Salvador Dalí produced works spanning painting, sculpture, film, set design, and graphic art. The Dalí Theater-Museum in Figueres houses the most extensive collection of his work, which is also represented in institutions such as the Reina Sofía Museum in Madrid and MoMA in New York.
