This silkscreen dates from Equipo Límite’s period of full consolidation, when the collective had already defined its own artistic language based on the ironic appropriation of images from comics, advertising, and popular culture. The composition here takes on the appearance of a cut-out set, featuring a central female figure and various outfits that allude to gender roles and stereotypes. The intense color palette, the boldness of the outlines, and the visual humor are characteristic elements of their unique reinterpretation of the pop imagery.
Equipo Límite consisted of Carmen Roig Castillo (Cari) and Esperanza Casa Guillén (Cuqui Guillén), both graduates of the San Carlos School of Fine Arts in Valencia. Active between 1987 and 2002, the collective received recognition such as the Alfons Roig Fellowship and a grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation. Their work is held in collections including the Salvador Allende Museum of Solidarity and the “la Caixa” Foundation.
