Part of the suite *The Song of Songs of King Solomon*, this print is part of one of Dalí’s most elaborate print series from the early 1970s, in which he combines etching, drypoint, color, and gold applications. Inspired by the Song of Songs, the composition conveys the loving and sensual nature of the biblical text through an almost weightless female figure, defined by a very light line that blends with lilies and plant forms. The touches of gold introduce intermittent flashes of light that enliven the surface and reinforce the edition’s precious quality. The complete portfolio consisted of twelve prints and was published by Leon Amiel in New York; the standard edition comprised 250 copies on Arches paper.

Salvador Dalí was one of the leading figures of Surrealism and pursued an intense career in printmaking alongside his painting, especially after World War II. In his prints, he combined traditional techniques with experimental methods and frequently drew upon literary, religious, and mythological sources. His work is widely represented in institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía.
