The set features six figures from the Old Street Walkers series, which Opie developed in 2022 based on his observations of pedestrians and city dwellers. Reduced to outlines, planes of color, and essential features, the figures take on an illusion of movement through the lenticular effect as the viewer’s position changes. This incorporation of movement is particularly consistent with one of Opie’s central themes: the representation of everyday actions through a visual language akin to signage, digital drawing, and urban culture.

Julian Opie studied at Goldsmiths College in London from 1979 to 1982 and is one of the most recognizable figures in contemporary British art. His practice encompasses painting, sculpture, printmaking, LED installations, and lenticular media, combining references to art history with images drawn from everyday life. His work is held in institutions such as the Tate, the British Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the National Portrait Gallery in London, and MoMA in New York.
