Painting of genre costumbrista, being the peasant parties one of the favorite subjects of the painting of the Netherlands during the XVII century. Under the amber lights of the sunset, the villagers dance, smoke and embrace each other with uninhibited gestures that let guess that their bellies have been filled with good wine. The colors of the autumn countryside, dominated by earthy and green tones, contrast with the red berets, velvet doublets and white scarves knotted around the neck. Ceramic carafes gleam next to the wooden benches.
