Guillaume Seignac

Seignac was born in Rennes, France, in 1870, and died in 1924. He began his training at the Académie Julian in Paris, where he studied from 1889 to 1895. There he had many teachers, including Gabriel Ferrier and Tony Robert-Fleury. Tony Robert-Fleury was a notable historical and genre painter. Gabriel Ferrier, on the other hand, had been awarded the Prix de Rome. He also had another teacher named William-Adolphe Bouguereau.
In addition to his training in the academic style, much of Seignac’s work features classical and neoclassical themes and styles; for example, his depiction of light, translucent veils draped over women’s bodies is reminiscent of the classical style, particularly that of the sculptor Phidias. In 1897, Guillaume Seignac exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon and won several honors, including an honorable mention in 1900 and a medal in 1903.
