Landscape painter of German origin. He studied Fine Arts in Sachsen, Germany. He lived in San Felipe, island of Fire, Cape Verde, where he dedicated himself to paint the insular nature. According to the chronicles, Koenig arrived on a German ship to the island as a result of a breakdown that forced them to disembark. He liked the place and did not want to return. It seems that towards the end of his life he traveled to the USA, but before that he traveled the world, as these paintings show, capturing the peaceful life and the intense light that permeates the sea and the Brazilian landscape.
