Painting of German school resolved in realistic language, going into a landscape of bucolic tints and rich palette. A group of villagers rests next to the bank of a great lake. They are accompanied by farm animals. A haystack can be seen on the right. A church stands out for its verticality in this landscape composition. The tower is depicted using the real clock from the box in which the scene is painted. Other architectural elements border the lake and a wide panoramic view opens out towards the mountainous background, dotted with the golden light of a fading sun.
