BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
French school of the XIX century.
"Bathers in the river".
Pair of oils on cardboard.
Framed "A. Ramel" .
Measurements: 42 x 32 cm (each); 53 x 42 cm (frames).
Pair of paintings of French nineteenth-century school. Both paintings show scenes of women and children bathing in a river being spied by washerwomen scandalized by the nudity of the bathers (in one of them) and by two teenagers (in the other canvas). The mischievous subject has been treated with a luminous and contrasting palette, extracting with intuitive brushstrokes the right ranges of greens and blues of the French countryside.
