Amateur painter, Cristóbal Férriz became a disciple of Carlos de Haes. With his work "After the downpour in Madrid", preserved in the collection of the Prado Gallery, the gallery itself defines his biography: "He attended the National Exhibition of 1876 with some landscape paintings taken from nature, the 1878 with several paintings, including "After the downpour in Madrid", for which he was awarded a third class medal. His work was included in a selection of paintings sent to the International Exhibition of Vienna held in 1882. He also participated in the National Exhibition of 1881 with the oil painting "Pond in the Casa de Campo", acquired by the State. Collector and art connoisseur, at his death he bequeathed three works to the Prado Museum. In addition to being a collector, he was an art scholar with a special interest in Goya. Augustus Mayer, cites Cristóbal Ferriz as a source when he affirms that Goya's works on "The Second and Third of May" formed a set with two other paintings, making a total of four, representing the uprising in the Royal Palace and the defense of the Artillery Park (Fernández Martínez, D. in E. M. N. P., Madrid, 2006, volume III, p. 1065).
