DESCRIPTION
ARMAN HENRION (Liège, Belgium, 1875-Paris, 1958).
"Clown".
Oil on wood.
Signed in the lower left corner.
Measurements:
Arman Henrion based his work entirely on self-portraiture as a clown. For it he painted all his face of white and he was captured making faces and diverse faces: smoking, with monocle, with glasses, angry, with face of good-natured or of satisfied, among many others, always inspired by the clown of the Italian comedy Pierrot. His hair, always tied back with a monochrome scarf, left one or both ears without makeup.
Although Henrion was born in Liege, he is considered an important portraitist of the School of Paris along with Picasso, Picabia, Kees Van Dongen or Sonia and Robert Delaunay, among many other great artists. His work is located in the Belvedere Museum in Vienna and belongs to the Klewan collection.
