BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Andalusian School; late nineteenth century.
"Andalusian Fair".
Oil on canvas.
It conserves frame of epoch.
Measurements: 43 x 73 cm; 60 x 89 cm (frame).
Sevillian costumbrista scene, responding to the typology of painting of pilgrimage and equestrian theme, showing the typical costumes of southern Spain, the decorated horses, and the liveliness of the scene developing under a blue sky and a clear atmosphere that gives more visibility to the details. The contrast between the preciousness of the foreground and the sketchy brushstroke of the background, to give an idea of depth, stands out. Romanticism had a great development in the Sevillian school, and this painting is part of the school inherited from the Domínguez Bécquer brothers.
