Composition with two columns and garlands of brightly colored flowers hanging from blue silk ribbons. Its center is decorated with a glass jar with flowers.
Hermansen is known primarily for his flower and landscape paintings, as well as for his work as a porcelain painter at Bing & Grøndahl. He studied under F.F. Helsted and drawing teacher C.S. Petersen and also trained in painting at the Royal Danish Academy from 1872 to 1876. While he mainly did flower studies from life, he also earned his living decorating terracotta works for P. Ipsens Enke. He regularly exhibited his works at the Academy and received several awards.
