This work is an excellent example of the costumbrismo of the end of the XIX century, probably of the French school, with a specific focus on the region of Brittany. An autumnal or sunset atmosphere predominates, with ochre tones, earth tones and the orange glow in the foliage in the background. The technique shows a transition towards naturalism with somewhat looser brushstrokes in the figures, typical of the painters who followed in the wake of the Pont-Aven School.
